Personal Protection Tips: Take Stalking Incidents Seriously

Personal Protection Tips: Take Stalking Incidents Seriously - Stalking generally refers to harassing or threatening behavior that an individual engages in repeatedly, such as following a person, appearing at a person's home or place of business, making harassing phone calls, leaving written messages or objects, or vandalizing a person's property.

According to statistics tabulated in the 2010 National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, 16% of women and 5% of men respondents stated that they were very fearful or believed that they or someone close to them would be harmed or killed because of a stalking incident.

Each situation is unique however that does not eliminate the need to have the issue resolved. It could be a serious mistake to not seek and implement an effective solution and to instead merely hope that the stalking behavior will safely abate over time. Some solutions may require involving the authorities, a Personal Protection Order, or other personal protection remedies.
