Detroit, Michigan – Jan. 7, 2011 – Rick Ector, a National Rifle Association (NRA) Credentialed Firearms Trainer based in Detroit Michigan, is calling for answers about the conditions that allowed a convict to escape the custody of Wayne County Sheriff Deputies.
A couple of days ago, convicted rapist Willie B. Wright managed to over-power assigned deputies and effect an escape from a hospital during a scheduled medical appointment. According to Ector, the metro-Detroit region was unnecessarily subjected to the prospect of being harmed by an escapee with a known violent past.
Ector states, "This incident is unacceptable. There is no way that a person, who was convicted of a litany of violent offenses, should have been put into an environment in which he could escape and pose a serious and credible threat to our community."
Ector's call for an explanation was posted yesterday on his blog, "Legally Armed In Detroit," after he perceived that Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon is being reluctant to talk about the incident. Ector adds, "Our Sheriff owes us some answers and we want them now to ensure that there won't be other prisoners escaping the custody of law enforcement and endangering the safety of our community."
