Michigan Concealed Pistol License Tip: Although a church or house of worship is a Pistol FREE Zone in Michigan, it is legal for CPL-holders to conceal carry pistols in them if they have permission from the presiding religious official.
I strongly suggest getting the authorization in writing. After all, if it became a necessity to lawfully use a firearm, you wouldn't want any confusion surrounding your authorization to carry there. Contrary to popular belief, the Devil goes to church too, as evidenced by a number of armed robberies of churches in Detroit within recent memory.
Moreover, I am going to make personal history this upcoming weekend - March 24th, 2012 - as I teach a Concealed Pistol License Class at the Fenkell Gospel Church in Detroit, with permission from the Pastor for me and my staff to have firearms on the premises. If you desire to RSVP for this specific class, contact Ken Kareem at 248.469.6248.
