Detroit CPL Class Instructor Organizes Benefit For Local Heroine

Rick Ector, a National Rifle Association (NRA) Credentialed Firearms and Personal Protection Trainer based in Detroit Michigan, is organizing a benefit fundraiser for a local heroine.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Detroit, MI – September 10, 2012 – Rick Ector, a National Rifle Association (NRA) Credentialed Firearms Trainer and gun rights activist based in Detroit Michigan, has partnered with Biggby Coffee of Southfield to conduct a benefit fundraiser on the behalf of a local heroine.

During this current week - September 10th through September 16th - Biggby Coffee of Southfield, MI is donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of full priced "grande/specialty" beverages to a benefit entitled, "A Helping Hand For Alaina." All persons wishing to support this benefit will need to download a special coupon and present it at the Biggby Coffee Shop in Southfield, MI (26185 Evergreen Road) on any day of this current week. Persons wishing to meet "Alaina" in person can do so by being at the coffee shop on Wednesday (Sept. 12th) between 5:30pm and 7:00pm.

The beneficiary - Alaina - was recently identified by a metro-Detroit area TV station as a local woman who was assaulted during a violent carjacking attempt by two dangerous predators. The report stated that her vehicle was senselessly riddled by bullets from an AK-47 rifle until she returned fire with her legally concealed and carried handgun. After shooting back at her assailants, the bad guys quickly left the scene.

In the aftermath of the gunfight, Alaina suffered significant damage to her arm. In fact, the damage was so great that it is not known if she will ever recover full use of her limb. As a consequence of the shooting, she can no longer work as a waitress which was her primary means of supporting herself and her three small children.

Alaina credits having her firearm with her with not only saving her life but the lives of two other people who were also present in her vehicle at the time of the unprovoked attack:

Ector explains his rationale for organizing this fundraiser as the following, "When I first heard the story, I immediately knew that I wanted to do something to help. Fortunately, I was able to discover fairly quickly a means of doing just that with the help from the great people at Biggby Coffee of Southfield. Hopefully, many others in the community will feel as compassionate as I do and lend this event their assistance."

Persons who wish to make a donation, of any amount, can do so online using the button below in this page:
