Casement windows, second only to fixed windows, are the most secure type to have installed in your home. They feature windows that only "open out" by means of a rotating crank.Casement windows, when cranked closed, latched secure, and in some locked (where installed), can only be opened by a bad guy if he breaks the window sufficiently to reach inside and crank it open.
Thus, casement window security can additionally be enhanced by also removing the handle when it is secured and closed. The handle should, however, be kept nearby just in case there is a need to use the window as an emergency exit.
