Michigan Personal Protection Tips: Beware of Sliders
Michigan Personal Protection Tips - Beware of Sliders.
A new crime focusing on unaware women at gas stations is becoming increasingly popular across both metro-Detroit and the nation.
Sliding occurs when a bad guy positions his vehicle opposite the unsuspecting victim's car to shield his furtive actions from view of others. While shielded, the bad guy "slides" out of his car and gains entry to the other car to steal valuables, often contained in a purse.
A slider, if he wanted, could also hide in the back seat area of the victim's car and commit far more heinous crimes such as kidnapping, carjacking, and rape. To guard against sliding, citizens should be aware of their surroundings especially while at a gas station and be sure to keep their vehicle doors locked while they are dispensing fuel into their gas tanks.
