LAID Celebrates Black History Month: Mr. Otis W. McDonald

Rick's Firearm Academy of Detroit salutes Black History Month by honoring patriots who fought for freedom. Today's honoree is Mr. Otis McDonald.

He was the "named" plaintiff in the landmark Supreme Court Gun Case - Otis McDonald vs. City of Chicago - in which it was determined that the Second Amendment does indeed apply to the individual states of our nation.

The Court held that the right of an individual to "keep and bear arms" - protected by the Second Amendment - is incorporated by the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Accordingly, Chicago's gun ban was ruled unConstitutional.

Mr. McDonald is a true freedom fighter and a patriot. It was truly an honor and a privilege for me to meet him - he is a living legend.

If you don't like guns, you probably don't know your history. Yep, I said it.
