Rick's Firearm Academy of Detroit salutes Black History Month by honoring patriots who fought for freedom. Today's honoree is Cathay Williams - Female Buffalo Soldier.
Williams so badly wanted to fight in the Civil War that she hid her gender to enlist. Despite the prohibition against women serving in the military, Williams enlisted in the United States Regular Army on 15 November 1866 at St. Louis, Missouri for a three year engagement, passing herself off as a man.
If you don't like guns, you probably don't know your history. Yep, I said it.
