LAID Celebrates Black History Month: General Laney
Rick's Firearm Academy of Detroit salutes Black History Month by honoring patriots who fought for freedom. Today's honoree is the late General Laney - a nationally known and respected gun rights activist who once owned and operated a gun range in Detroit.
In perhaps his greatest moment he legally took on the Wayne County Sheriff's Office all the way to the Michigan Supreme Court and won. In that case, Sheriff Robert Ficano sent in an undercover deputy to pretend that he was buying a firearm for an underage person.
Ficano tried to railroad Laney with the legal system and possibly shut down Detroit's only operating gun range.
Fortunately, freedom prevailed.
R.I.P. General Laney - You are missed but not forgotten.
If you don't like guns, you probably don't know your history. Yep, I said it.
