Personal Protection Tip: Walk Against The Flow Of Traffic
One tactic to improve your level of personal safety when walking outdoors is to oppose the flow of traffic. For example, if traffic on the pedestrian's side of the street is traveling north, pedestrians would be better protected by traveling south. Alternatively, if the pedestrian wishes to travel north, he should cross the street and continue to oppose traffic.
By doing so, pedestrians will be better enabled to quickly identify potential risks to his safety. Once a threat has been identified, he will better enabled to quickly execute a plan of action. Many predators seek out and select unsuspecting victims who do not see them. If their quarry is unaware of an impending attack, bad guys can capitalize on a lack of awareness.
