Quiz: How To Safely Unload A Semi-Auto Handgun?

Knowing how to safely handle and unload a semi-automatic handgun is not rocket science. However, as we have learned recently, if basic fundamental firearm safety rules are not obeyed, a very tragic incident can result.

This blog post entry was inspired by a recent media report in which a law enforcement officer, while dressed in his uniform, who went to a local gun and promptly shot off a finger with a .380 caliber pistol. Several errors were made.

The ultimate irony in the aforementioned incident is that anti-gun advocates frequently assert that only police officers should possess firearms. Whereas I do not seek to discredit the gun handling skills of law enforcement, I am making the point that anybody can have a negligent discharge if he does obey basic safety precautions when handling a firearm.

Do you know how to safely handle and unload a semi-automatic handgun? Which of the following is the best answer?

A. Simply Remove The Magazine
